The Dalhousie Student Union
Mission
We actively represent the diverse interests of Dalhousie students. In support of this objective, we seek students’ opinions to provide services which complement and enhance their university experience in a financially, socially and environmentally responsible manner.
Vision
Our vision is to be recognized nationally as a leading advocate and provider of innovative and valued services for students. We strive to be the primary destination for Dalhousie students to engage in leadership and involvement within the University and greater community.
Structure
The five-member executive, four whom are elected and one appointed, is overseen by a Council composed of students from eleven faculties, residence, interest groups and student representatives from the Dalhousie Board of Governors and Senate.
The Board of Operations is responsible for overseeing the
financial and operational health of the Union.
This includes, but is not limited to areas of: budget and finance,
constitution and policy, facility operations, Union staffing and the health and
dental plan. The board is made up of 13 members including the Executive, six
(appointed) members of the Union, the General Manager (non-voting) and alumni
(non-voting).
Operationally, the Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) employs ten full-time staff and nearly 100 part-time student staff.
