Student Fee Breakdown

Dalhousie Student Union’s membership includes all students at Dalhousie registered with full-status or part-time status, each of whom pays a student union fee which goes to pay for various student services.  Each full-time student pays $117/year and each part-time student pays $57.50/year to the DSU.

Breakdown

CKDU

CKDU is a student run community radio station broadcasting at 88.1FM.  It is located on the fourth floor of the SUB.

Gazette & Sextant

The Gazette is a student run newspaper published once a week throughout the school year.  The Sextant is a paper dedicated to events on Sexton campus and is published at the back of the Gazette.

Dalhousie Women's Centre

The DWC serves as a reference and resource centre for all students of the Dalhousie community.  It focuses on issues of social justice and oppression for minority groups from a feminist perspective.  It is located at 6286 South Street.

Student Accessibility Fund

The SAF is a fund dedicated to improving access and quality of campus life for students with accessibility issues.  It is administered through the office of the Vice-President (Internal).

Nova Scotia Public Interest Research Group

NSPIRG is a student run organization that focuses on issues of social and environmental justice.  It is located on the third floor of the SUB.

World University Services Canada

WUSC facilitates the student refugee sponsorship program at Dalhousie that subsidizes the cost of two students from developing countries to attend Dalhousie.

South African Trust Fund

The South African Student Education Project is run by the Lester Pearson International at Dalhousie.  The South African Trust fund supports one student from South Africa in a masters or PhD program.

DSU Renovation Fund

The DSU Renovation fund finances major renovations to DSU managed properties.  Currently, this fee is being used to repay the University loan that financed the  2001 renovations to the bottom two floors of the SUB.

Facility Improvement Fee

The Facility Improvement fee is used for general maintenance and improvements to DSU managed properties, equipment and furniture.

DSU General Operations


This fee has a number of purposes.  Included are: Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) membership, Alliance of Nova Scotia Student Associations (ANSSA) membership, Dalhousie Student Advocacy Service (DSAS) operations, and day-to-day of the Dalhousie Student Union including its activities.  A more detailed summary budget can be found in Forms & Documents.
