DSU funding may be awarded on a first come, first served basis for eligible member and society applicants.
Each year the DSU awards more than $50,000 in grants to support various students and student societies on campus. Grants are administered by the Grants Committee, a comittee of your DSU Council, and are awarded to students and societies who qualify for a grant as per the Union's policies.
Society grants are available to help eligible societies defray operational costs, as well as help plan, promote and participate in endeavours that will be beneficial for the Dalhousie community. Each society is eligible to recieve up to $1000 in Grant funding per year (typically restricted to $500/semester).
Member grants are available to help students attend conferences, special events/workshops, or to cover some of the costs of extracurricular events related to a student's academics (though Grants are not administered to help fund tution related expenses). Member grants are available for up to $100 per person.
Accommodation grants are intended to help societies wishing to provide accommodations for students who may experience barriers in attending or participating in society hosted events, or for individual students who require accommodations specifically to participate in union activities.
Student Accessibility Bursaries of up to $1000 are available each year, which are open to all Dalhousie students with disabilities. We recognize that there are additional financial burdens associated with having a disability, and this bursary are provided to help defray these costs.
Fall Deadline: Nov 1, 2016
Sponsorship is available to members of the Dalhousie Student Union (Dalhousie students who pay student union fees) to support student-led events and initiatives that benefit our members. The Union will award successful student applicants with funding to help offset the costs of an event/activity in return for publicized involvement of the DSU.
International Student Emergency Fund Bursary: Emergency financial assistance is available for international students experiencing financial difficulty due to unforeseen circumstances. Funds are limited so there is no guarantee that all eligible applicants will receive assistance.
