The DSU offers a range of services including venue booking, catering, bar services, and audio/visual technology rental and setup. With a range of room sizes and catering options available, we can tailor any event precisely to your needs.

Located in Halifax’s beautiful south end and within walking distance of downtown, the Dalhousie Student Union Building is host to over 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space. This includes a 7000 square foot banquet hall that has the flexibility to host any kind of event from award ceremonies, to guest lecturers to wedding receptions.

Christmas Party Packages

  • $35 - $45++ per person
    Available November 1 to December 24, 2026

    • Minimum booking: 35 guests

    • Maximum booking: 400 guests

    Bring your team together for a festive Christmas celebration in the heart of Halifax. Our Christmas Party Packages combine a traditional holiday dinner, private event space and in-house audiovisual equipment into one convenient package, presented by the Dalhousie Student Union and Chartwells Catering,

    Perfect for staff parties, department celebrations, client events, awards dinners and year-end gatherings.

  • Christmas Party Package:
    $35 to $45+ per person

    Meal Includes:

    • Traditional Turkey Dinner

    • Savoury roast turkey

    • Bread stuffing

    • Pan gravy

    • Cranberry sauce

    • Freshly baked rolls with butter

    • Choice of two salads

    • Choice of one hot accompaniment

    • Steamed seasonal vegetables

    • Assorted desserts

    • Coffee service

    Room and In-House AV Included:

    • Private event space

      (Standard room setup)

    • Thrust stage, up to 24'6" × 13'

    • Podium

    • Two microphones

    • Stage wash lighting

    The McInnes Room’s large stage and 24-foot screen make it an ideal setting for presentations, staff awards, speeches, entertainment and dancing.

  • Packages may be upgraded to a maximum of $45++ per person by selecting up to two of the following enhancements:

    • (VG) Crudités and Dip

    • (V) Classic Cheese Tray

    • (VG) Olive and Pickle Tray

    • (V) Macaroni and Cheese

    • Ham

    • Unlimited canned beverages

    Menu selections and final pricing will be confirmed based on the chosen enhancements.

    Bring the Entertainment

    Make your Christmas party even more memorable by adding a:

    • Live band

    • DJ

    • Comedian

    • Guest speaker

    • Awards presentation

    • Other live entertainment

    Events requiring additional sound, lighting, staging or technical production will be supported by Holland Technologies, the Dalhousie Student Union’s preferred audiovisual provider.

    Holland Technologies will work with the client to develop and quote a customized production package.

  • Local Businesses and External Organizations:

    • $35 to $45++ per person

    • “++” indicates that applicable taxes and a 15% catering gratuity will be added.

    Dalhousie University Departments

    • $35 to $45 plus applicable taxes per person

    • Gratuity is not charged on eligible Dalhousie University purchases.
