Rural Student Outing

  • Rowe Management Building 6100 University Ave Halifax, NS B3H 4R2 Canada (map)

Time: 2 PM - 4 PM
Location:
Meet at Rowe Management Building

Travel downtown and explore Halifax alongside other students who are new to the city or the first in their family to attend university. This guided adventure is a great opportunity to make friends and build confidence navigating your new home before classes begin.

Meet up with Rural Student Mentors on campus for a quick introduction to Halifax Transit and some other key resources. Then, you'll travel together on public transit to downtown Halifax, where you'll explore Spring Garden Road and the Public Gardens and have the opportunity to take part in a fun scavenger hunt, discover new places around the city, and get to know other students who are navigating a similar transition to university life.

If you have any accessibility needs for this event, please reach out to orientation@dal.ca.

  • Event Energy Level:
    Medium Energy

  • Target Audience:
    Rural and first generation students

  • Accessible?:
Partially - Will be moving around a lot - however, campus buildings should be accessible (mobility wise), and Halifax transit is able to accomodate mobility devices - navigating city might be a challenge. There will also be a scavenger hunt completed in small groups, which may present an accessibility challenge.

Accessible format scavenger hunt list will be made (large font, black and white, sans serif)
