Dalhousie Neurological health society

The Dalhousie Neurological Health Society aims to be a student led society focused on neurological health, disease awareness, and education. Our purpose is to create a welcoming space for students to learn about neurological diseases and conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury, migraine, Visual disorders and other disorders of the brain and nervous system. Membership is open to all Dalhousie students, regardless of faculty or program, including students interested in science, health care, neuroscience, psychology, nursing, medicine, rehabilitation, social work, and community health.
Our society is unique because it is not designed to represent a single academic major or department. Instead, we aim to bring together students from different disciplines who share an interest in neurological health from clinical, scientific, social, and community perspectives. By focusing specifically on neurological conditions, we hope to complement other existing student societies while offering a distinct space for awareness, advocacy, education, and interdisciplinary discussion.
Our goals include organizing speaker events, awareness campaigns, educational social media content, fundraisers, and collaborations with campus and community organizations. Through these initiatives, we aim to promote greater understanding of neurological conditions, support relevant causes, and encourage students to think critically and compassionately about the impact of neurological disease on individuals, families, and communities.

Jack.org Dalhousie

We are the official Jack.org Chapter at Dalhousie University, part of Jack.org - Canada’s only charity that trains and empowers young people to create positive change for mental health in their communities.

Our chapter supports students throughout their university experience by promoting mental health awareness, increasing mental health literacy, reducing stigma, and encouraging open conversations. We strengthen student wellbeing at Dalhousie and in the community by helping students connect with one another, access supports, and feel confident supporting their peers.

We deliver educational and community based programming, including workshops, peer learning activities, outreach, awareness campaigns, resource sharing, and fun community building events. We share tools and supports from Jack.org, Dalhousie, and local community partners to help students learn about mental health, build coping skills, and know where to find support.

Dalhousie EngiQueers

We are an official member group operating as an extension of EngiQueers Canada, a national non-profit that represents the 2SLGTBQIA+ community in engineering & celebrates, promotes, and advocates for equity, diversity, and belonging in engineering.

Our three pillars are:
1. Professional development (e.g. sending delegates to the annual national EngiQueers Canada conference, hosting networking events with queer professionals, and more)
2. Education & advocacy (e.g. delivering EDIA training)
3. Social connection (e.g. hosting events on campus such as drag shows, community walks, art nights, and more)

Force Seven Sailing (F7S)

Force Seven Sailing is a Dalhousie student design team created in collaboration with the Memorial University of Newfoundland. We will be competing in the SuMoth competition, which involves designing, building, testing and racing a foiling Moth class sailboat.

SuMoth is a rapidly growing international competition with focuses on sustainability and inclusion. We are looking for students who are interested in engineering, aeronautics and sailing to join our team.

Tau Lambda Xi Sorority

Tau Lambda Xi Sorority is local to Halifax and was founded back in 2017. We recruit female identifying individuals from Dalhousie, and other universities surrounding the HRM! Since then our organization has hosted various events throughout each academic year that offer social, leadership, and philanthropic oppertunities to our members.

Our core values as an organization are Self-Discovery, Learning, and Community. Our goal is to aid our members in embodying these values through the events we host throughout the year. Dalhousie Marine Conservation Society (DMC)

The Dalhousie Marine Conservation Society (DMC) aims to cultivate the interest of marine conservation science in undergraduate students, primarily targeting students in marine biology, biology, environmental science, sustainability and related majors. Marine science is multi-sectoral, and conservation is increasingly important as the effects of climate change and the overexploitation of marine animals and ecosystems are gaining prominence. DMC plans to introduce and engage students in this marine science sector while raising awareness of the broad range of opportunities in this field, including research, statistics, NGOs, and fieldwork.

Dalhousie/King's Crafting Society

Our society invites Dalhousie and Kings students to craft together and try out new crafting opportunities. In addition to our bi-weekly crafting sessions we plan to host a variety of crafting workshops to learn new skills, as well as field trips to local crafting stores and crafting markets so that our members can both explore the world of crafting and learn more about local creators and shops. We aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space for both avid crafters and those who've never tried before to come together and destress and connect with other crafters and build a community together. PennyDrops Dalhousie Chapter

PennyDrops is a national not-for-profit organization with chapters at multiple universities across the country. The goal of PennyDrops is to teach students financial literacy skills, so that they can acquire the tools they need to reach their financial goals. PennyDrops conducts presentations on various topics, such as investing, budgeting and credit. The presentations are made to Dalhousie students and high school students at local high schools. The role of members who are involved in the society is to give presentations.
