Dalhousie/King's Crafting Society
Our goal is to create a safe space for students to craft and meet others who craft! We plan to organize crafting sessions, workshops, and field trips to craft stores/fairs. Whether you are a seasoned crafter or interested in starting a new hobby, we would love for you to join us and explore the world of crafts!
Our society invites Dalhousie and Kings students to craft together and try out new crafting opportunities. In addition to our bi-weekly crafting sessions we plan to host a variety of crafting workshops to learn new skills, as well as field trips to local crafting stores and crafting markets so that our members can both explore the world of crafting and learn more about local creators and shops. We aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space for both avid crafters and those who've never tried before to come together and destress and connect with other crafters and build a community together. This space is open to any student all they need is their willingness to craft or to learn how and a welcoming attitude.

Dalhousie Anime Society
This is a society for everyone who loves manga and anime to gather together every week and indulge in some anime at our watch parties!
The Dalhousie Anime Club (DAC) organizes events on campus related to anime and Japanese media. These include movie and TV episode screenings, video games, board games, and party games like Kahoot trivia and Jackbox.
For over 10 years DAC has been providing a very important and unique leisure area for local fans of Japanese media. Students participate in events by sharing and engaging with their passions, and getting creative with fun and collaborative activities. Although anime is our focus, DAC is all-inclusive, and represents an integral part of campus life both inside and outside its target audience.

K-pop Club is where fans come together to discuss and learn about Korean music, artist, movies, dramas, food, and cultures. We want to bring K-pop fans together to share our common interests in all things K-pop.
Korean music and films genre is rapidly growing, and spreading its popularity around the globe. We believe this would be an amazing opportunity to introduce more diversity to the campus and could possibly welcome some newcomers to our Dal community.
We have many entertaining activity ideas planned for students such as karaoke night, try Korean/East Asian cuisine, game night, movie night, DIY photo cards/banner/bracelets, and collaborative K-pop dance classes.
Our main goal is for this community to be where people can comfortably express themselves and their interests towards K-pop. The K-pop club would be an amazing opportunity for students to release stress from classes and daily tasks. Club members are also welcome to share their own backgrounds and cultures!

Black and Gold Dance Team
The Black and Gold Dance Team is a competitive dance team at Dalhousie University, who competes amongst other University teams around the Maritimes. Each September, auditions are held for full-time Dal students after which a group of experienced dancers are chosen to be a part of the team. We provide quality dance instruction, in the styles of Contemporary, Jazz, Hip-hop, Tap, Lyrical, and Acro, that is accessible and inexpensive for all. The Black and Gold Dance Team provides dancers with the opportunity to continue dancing, performing, and competing through University, in a fun and supportive environment.
The BGDT is Dalhousie's competitive dance team! We allow full-time Dal students of any age, program, and year of study to continue their passion for dance during their university career. We offer a variety of dance styles, including Jazz, Hip-Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap, Acro, and more! This variety brings students from all different dance backgrounds together to create a welcoming, encouraging and communal experience to continue their dance journey beyond high-school. Our team has been growing rapidly over the last few years, with around 20 team members in 2021 and now 40 in our 2023/24 season! We are proud to finally be making a name for ourselves here at Dal, and we hope to grow our team even more in the future.
Each year, we rehearse weekly in preparation for our 3 competitions which occur between February and April. This includes rehearsals for any group or solo/duet/trio routines, as well as team trainings and technique classes. We attend 1 away-competition in Fredericton hosted by the UNB Reds where all Maritime University dance teams compete, as well as 2 home-competitions in Halifax. Dancers audition for the team in early September, with almost 100 students total at our auditions last year! We also host team bonding events, fundraisers, participate in halftime performances, and an annual showcase where friends and families can come and see the hard work we have put in.
Dancers often lose opportunity to keep dancing after high-school if they are not pursuing it professionally - which is why it is so important for teams like ours to exist! The BGDT is an incredible way to bond with other students.
Many of our team members meet their best friends, and often roommates, on the team. Overall, our team cherishes the opportunity to pursue dance as university students, and we cannot wait to continue growing!
Note: The BGDT will be launching our new website June 1st, which will have even more information about the specifics of our society and more information for anyone wanting to join.

We perform a wide variety of a capella music on, off, and around Dal/King's using only our voices!
The UCVE meets twice a week throughout the school year. During that time, members make amazing music together. We have fun as we learn new songs and get excited as they sound better and better with each rehearsal. By coming to choir, we also gain a caring support group. UCVE is home to people with different backgrounds, insights and experiences, and by sharing that with one another, we find a community where we can all belong and can grow. Outside of singing, we also foster community with “mandatory fun,” which has included apple picking, origami nights and picnics. Once you are a member of UCVE, you are always a member.
The UCVE also contributes to the community outside itself. Twice a year, the choir puts on a concert, inviting anyone who wants to come. Admission is via donation, and after each concert, we give a significant portion to charity. In the past, we have donated to Adsum House, Parker Street Food and Furniture Bank, and The Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation.
