Dalhousie Accounting Society

The Dalhousie Accounting Society focuses on supporting Dalhousie students by providing tools and resources to help students succeed in their academic courses and provide insight into the accounting profession and opportunities within the field. Our role is to host events such as networking events, case competitions, and CPA/accounting information sessions which provides the Dalhousie student community with a range of intel as well as enhance their networking skills. Student members are involved by attending our events and participating in the networking events, therefore providing them the opportunities to meet professionals within the field and obtain co-op or full-time opportunities which is an important aspect of the commerce curriculum.

In the past we have held several networking nights and have had accounting firms reach out to us to post about their own personal events such as an office tour, Q&A sessions about their firm, and the type of work they do. Additionally, we hold CPA information sessions to inform accounting students what CPA means, what courses you have to take, what the process looks like, etc. We also offer several options of fast-track CPA information sessions with other universities about their graduate diploma in accounting to ensure students know their options.

We have assisted several students in obtaining co-op and full time opportunities within the Big 4 such as Deloitte, KPMG, PwC, and EY. We have checked over students resumes before information sessions/networking events with professionals within the field to ensure Dalhousie students feel prepared and confident going into the event. Our overall main goal is to help students achieve their goals in the accounting field and CPA profession.
