Dalhousie Association of Graduate Students in Psychology (DAGSiP)

Though the role of the society for some time has been organizing and assigning students to department committees and advocating to the faculty, we are hoping to expand the scope of DAGSiP. Specifically, our first goal is to promote more social connection between graduate students in the Psychology and Neuroscience department.

As we all know, being in grad school can be very isolating, and we are hoping to foster connection between graduate students by creating more on- and off-campus social events. We aim to represent students in the Clinical, Neuroscience, and Experimental Psychology programs and hope to foster a sense of community within the department.

We also aim to increase graduate student involvement more generally, both within and outside of DAGSiP, by hosting regular (e.g., bimonthly) meetings, reserving space on campus for planned and informal activities, and other initiatives based on student interest and feedback (e.g., organizing intramural sports teams).

Finally, we hope to make student life as enjoyable and stress-free as possible by building a resource hub, making academic information (e.g., upcoming talks, scholarship deadlines) readily and easily accessible, and fostering supportive relationships between newer students and upper-year students in the program.
